Ambitious Expansion Plans
We want to become more accessible to the many people in the UK.
We're already today the world's largest home furnishing retailer, with 155,000 co-workers and operations in 43 countries. We have 19 stores in the UK plus 4 order and collection points and a number of other supporting units, with over 10,400 co-workers. However, not everyone in the UK has access to our range of affordable home furnishing products.
That’s why the IKEA vision is the foundation for our growth.
We want to make sure that IKEA is accessible, so that more people can create a better everyday life at home. We re-invest the majority of our profits in existing and new IKEA stores, as well as in product development, sustainable solutions and by continuously lowering prices to our customers. And we grow by using our own resources; in other words, we earn our money before we spend it. This makes it possible for us to make long-term investments for the future.
In the UK we have ambitious plans to double our market share by 2027 – this means new stores, innovation in our digital channels and to offer the best customer experience.
We continue our expansion with our new Sheffield store opening this year. We then expand further in 2018 with our two new stores in Exeter and Greenwich.
